James and Scops just got back from Gabrielle's, where they met her husband, Nicolas DuLac, who was the son of a French Death Eater (he and Scops bond somewhat over this). Nicolas says that, had he not been old enough to remember, he believes his father--now ashamed--would have lied about his participation. Scops says that Draco has always told him the truth, for which he is grateful. He and James talk about this for a moment, James awkwardly mentioning the subject, and Scops shrugging it off, then challenging him to a race back to the train. They get there at the same time, and Robards lets them in without any further conversation. Table of Contents So Far |

Ear situation: the infection itself seems to be mostly gone, but there's still the problem of my (lack of) hearing. I'm going back to the clinic for a third time on Tuesday, and I'm desperately hoping the final approval on my MassHealth will come through by then, as that's what's prevented the nurse practitioner (who's doing the best she can with a bad situation) from referring me straight to an ENT. I miss the NHS so much it's unbearable. I'd have been referred to a specialist by now. I should have been seeing one from the very beginning. The full-time post at the museum, after three weeks of deliberation on their part, went to somebody else. Which is just as well, given I'm still waiting to hear from the antiquarian-book guys (the latter is a better job). Still, it's one more thing to make me feel beyond crushed. Three weeks of juggling a mutant ear bug with lots of waiting piled on top just... I would do anything to get out of this.

Normally, I am not for drugs. Pain meds make me feel icky and loopy and I hate them. But this time? Both sides of my jaw are throbbing, my speech is slurred and my face is all puffy and I haven't slept and I just want to be able to function. At this point, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the service tomorrow with my mouth like this if I've got to sing. Blergh. The worst part? The dentist won't even look at it until 12:30 on Wednesday. And he won't do anything, just look to see what kind of damage there is. Then I have to make another appointment to do something about it. Thank GOD my dad had some hydrocodone from his last illness handy, and it's plenty to get me through the next several days, so...good thing I don't have a job to get to except for church service tomorrow morning, right? The good news is I'm making progress on a provencal murder mystery plot that I'm working on. Basically? It's the Castle plot, but set in rural Georgia and it's a male cop (think the Royce character in Castle, only in my head James Marsters is playing him) and the Amy Acker character (Thanks to all those who answered the question. Still haven't settled on a name yet, but so far the strong contenders are Ruth and Lillian) is the writer. We have all my favorites: Crazy, over-bearing mother, yippy little dog which the male protagonist has to put up with because the lady he boards with has one, there will be no WTWT going on between the lead female and the lead male, mostly because he's old enough to be her father and...ew. It's not that kind of relationship. The WTWT will be with the young ME, Roger, who has yet to be cast in my head at the moment, a big conspiracy, and really, really, really depressed characters. I don't know why they're so much fun to write, but they are. And wow the hydrocodone must be kicking in. Ok, back to Medium. |
